Men, Mind and Health Matter (MMHM) is a charitable organisation dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of men across Northamptonshire. We support men who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, poor mental health through early intervention, peer support, community engagement, and suicide prevention initiatives. Supporting Men’s Mental Health and Wellbeing We provide accessible, safe, and non-judgemental men's mental health support for those experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, emotional difficulties, and suicidal thoughts. We understand that reaching out for help is not always easy. That's why we create supportive environments where men can speak openly, find connection, and access practical support when they need it most.
Early Intervention, Peer Support and Community Connection Early support can make a significant difference to mental wellbeing and can help prevent mental health challenges from escalating. Our work includes:

Suicide Prevention and Crisis Support MMHM is committed to reducing suicide risk and supporting men who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional crisis. Many men struggle in silence due to stigma, fear of judgement, or a belief that they must cope alone. We work to break down these barriers by providing understanding, guidance, and supportive spaces where men can access help without fear of being judged. Get Immediate Support
Why Men Often Struggle to Seek Support Many men face unique barriers when it comes to discussing their mental health. Social Expectations and Masculinity From an early age, many men are taught to appear strong, independent, and emotionally resilient. These expectations can make vulnerability feel uncomfortable or difficult. Fear of Stigma and Judgement Concerns about being perceived as weak or incapable can prevent men from speaking openly about anxiety, depression, or emotional distress. Difficulty Expressing Emotions Some men find it challenging to identify or communicate their feelings, making it harder to seek help when they are struggling. Pressure to Carry Responsibilities Many men feel responsible for supporting their families, colleagues, and communities, leading them to hide their own struggles. Lack of Safe Spaces Opportunities for honest conversations about mental health are often limited, leaving many men feeling isolated.
A Safe Space for Men to Talk At MMHM, we create welcoming and supportive environments where men feel respected, understood, and empowered to speak openly about their mental wellbeing. Through peer support, guidance, and meaningful social connections, we help men:
Build emotional resilience
Improve their mental wellbeing
Reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
Develop healthy coping strategies
Gain confidence to seek support when needed

Men’s mental health support
Men face unique mental health challenges, yet many struggle to seek help when they need it most. The statistics below highlight why greater awareness, support, and open conversations are essential:
More than three-quarters (76%) of suicides in the UK are by men (Reference: ONS)
Around 12.5% of men in the UK experience a common mental health disorder.
Men are more likely to use and die from illegal drugs.
Men are less likely than women to access psychological therapies and mental health support services
Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among men under 35 (Reference: ONS).
Men report lower levels of life satisfaction than women, with those aged 45–59 reporting the lowest levels in national wellbeing surveys. (Reference: ONS)
Approximately 73% of adults reported missing are men (Reference: University of York).
Around 87% of people sleeping rough are men (Reference: Crisis).
These figures demonstrate the urgent need to improve mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage men to seek support without fear of judgement. At Men Mind Health Matter, we are committed to promoting positive mental wellbeing, providing resources, and creating a supportive community where men can talk openly about their mental health.
